Music has always been a big part of my life. My older brother, Bob, started teaching me to play the piano when I was six years old. I then took lessons from various teachers, and eventually stayed with Arleen Whittaker who influenced and helped me greatly. My mother would sit on the piano bench with me to help me through my practice time when it was a struggle, and she made me practice an hour a day!
I was born and raised in Great Bend, Kansas. My dad, Albert Adrian, was the pastor of a Baptist church. When I was in the sixth grade I became the church pianist. My two older brothers (Tyrone and Bob) were also Baptist preachers (they are 15 and 12 years older than me). We all sang, and when we were together, we would sing quartets and trios, and Bob and I would play the piano and organ.
I realized my need for spiritual salvation when I was nine years old, and accepted Jesus as my Saviour. When I was sixteen, I surrendered my life to Him. It has been my desire to live for Christ and serve Him. Over the years, He has proved a faithful Lord and Saviour to me.
I attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. (1973 – 1977) and majored in music. I had the privilege to study piano with Bud Everett and John Greenbank. I continued my education at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and completed a Masters in Music Education Degree.
It was an honor to have the opportunity to teach at Baptist Bible College for ten years (1979 – 1989) in the music department. Then, I had the privilege to be on the church staff of the Liberty Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS for 15 years, (1989 – 2004).
In 2004, the Lord nudged me to take some time and work on my original hymn arrangements. I resigned from my position at the church, and took a step of faith. Since that time, I’ve recorded “A Child of the King”, “The Lord is My Strength”, “My Faith Looks up to Thee” and most recently- “Trust in the Lord” and a Christmas cd. I’ve had the opportunity to play numerous concerts and also speak at several ladies events.
Currently, I am teaching piano in the Kansas City, Ks. area in my home, at the Carnegie Arts Center, Blues to Bach music store, and Open Door Christian School. I continue to work on my own music, and am available to play concerts. Also, I am pianist and organist at the Leawood Baptist Church in Leawood, Ks.
My desire is that my piano music will point people to the Lord Jesus, and remind them of His love and all the wonderful treasures that we find in Him. People often tell me that my music helps them relax! I also long to be an inspiration to other pianists and artists, and to those who are in the process of learning to play the piano.
